"Ville de Cochin," according to Bellin, c.1755

Source: ebay, May 2002

"Ville De Cochin, issued 1755, La Haye, by Jacques Nicolas Bellin, the important French hydrographic engineer, engraved by J. V. Schley. Hundreds of individual houses and buildings can be clearly discerned, including several towers, garden plots, and the walls of the fortified city. Several sailing ships are seen as well, plus the topography of the land outside the fort walls. With expert and attractive full hand color. This is the less common Dutch version, with text in both French and Dutch."
