"JAHANGIR HUNTING. Mughal India, probably Allahabad, early 17th century. Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the Shah standing in a landscape holding a gun and being presented with a young fawn, the body of its mother being carried out of a river by attendants, areas of retouching including most faces, mounted on card with blue margins with gold floral meander. Folio 11¾ x 8in. (29.9 x 20.3cm.); miniature 6½ x 3¾in. (16.5 x 9.5cm.)."

"THE EMPEROR JAHANGIR'S LION HUNT. MUGHAL INDIA, CIRCA 1590-1600. Pen and ink on buff paper, the Emperor Jahangir mounted on an elephant spears a lion attacking one of his men, others on foot or horseback hold swords and shotguns also engage in the hunt, in a rocky landscape, very fine drawing, nim qalam inscribed near the top in small black nasta'liq '...zaman',laid down between red and gold floral design with inscription that reads 'No.4, Chasse au Tigre' on blue album leaf with pink and gold floral motif, verso with 6ll. of elegant black nasta'liq, fine crease down centre of miniature, slightly splitting, mounted, framed and glazed. Miniature 6 3/8 x 3¾in. (16.2 x 9.5cm.)
